Thanksgiving Message 2024

November 19, 2024

Dear Valued FAHSAA Classmates:

What a wonderful celebration we enjoyed at the 2024 Cincinnati Reunion hosted by Carole Morelli ’69 and Barbie Beckwith Candella ’70. We appreciate all the hard work that went into planning and executing this event. We are extremely grateful to both these ladies and hope you know how much we appreciate you. Oktoberfest found so many of us still gathering in the tents and enjoying whatever time we had left after the reunion was over. Eagles are one strong group of people! The memories are still with us and very much alive. Thankfully, there was also no incidence of illness nor any mention of the past on this issue.

Minutes from the business meeting held September 17, 2024, have been uploaded to the FAHSAA website for all of you to read. Also listed on the website are the well-deserving individuals who were honored at the event and recognized for their many contributions and attributes that have made FAHSAA a resoundingly wonderful organization. We are so proud of: Linda Buckles Brashear ’69, Kym Mingus Denmark ’68, Steve Gill ’69 and Erik Thamm ’68. Please read their bios. Each received an Eagle plaque inscribed with their names, etc. Recognition of their contributions are well deserved and we are proud to acknowledge them. Thank you to PJ Torres ’71 who took over as Chair along with committee members: John Rodahl ’69, Greg Brown ’69, Duke Taylor ’68, Dawn Simpson Thompson ‘69-editor.

The Quilts of Valor honored Hansgunther Turner ’71 for his Service and was draped by fellow Veteran, Chuck Bracker ’67. Pete Riddle ’67 delivered a very heartwarming talk on the purpose for this honor. It was truly wonderful to witness.

Please note there are some changes that will be noted on the website from the minutes of our Zoom call held November 11, 2024, with the Executive Board, Class Reps and Committee Chairs. It was a very productive and enlightening meeting. Peggy Rowland Sanchez ’71 has accepted the newly created role of bookkeeper. Dawn Simpson Thompson ‘69 continues her role as editor for the association. Ken Flauding ’69 has assumed the role of Compassion Chair. The new class representatives for the Class of ‘68 are Nora Nava Clark ‘68 with Lynet Monserret Buval ’68 serving as alternate. William “Bill” Thayer ‘73 has joined the website team. We will be seeking your input of where we should hold the 2026 reunion as 2025 will be held in Germany independent of our organization. Mini reunions are being hosted in 2025 – more to follow!

As always, we stand ready to hear from you on suggestions you have or any questions that are weighing on your mind. Please feel free to contact us anytime.

Wishing each of you a very Happy Thanksgiving! We are praying for all of you who are traveling, dealing with health issues (stay Eagle strong brothers and sisters) and just need to know we are here for you! May you and your family and friends enjoy the beauty of the start of this holiday season!

With deep gratitude and love on behalf of the Executive Board,
Gayle Cratty, President
